In the morning we will have the chance to see behind the scenes at the Somerset Heritage Centre which provides state-of-the-art storage for objects and historic records relating to Somerset (including early records for areas that are now part of B&NES). It also houses the popular Somerset Studies Library. We will be given a tour of the archives and museum object storage facilities, and highlights will include items with particular relevance to the Bath and B&NES area.
We will travel to the historic market town of Taunton for lunch before having the opportunity to visit the Museum of Somerset, housed in the 12th Century Castle, a Grade I listed Scheduled Monument. The museum is celebrating it’s 150 year anniversary and displays many interesting objects telling the story of the wider region. There will be something of interest for all!
