Concert Din Ghani

Join Musicke in the Ayre in celebrating the musical splendours of Venice in the 17th century. The remarkable Barbara Strozzi was born there 400 years ago; despite being illegitimate (and female), she trounced her male competitors, having more works printed than any of them.

Sopranos Maria Danishvar, Jane Hunt and Philippa Neaverson regroup with Din Ghani and his archlute in the lovely acoustic of the Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel to indulge in some of their favourite arias, duets and trios by Strozzi, and also by her contemporaries Monteverdi, Grandi and her teacher Cavalli.

With a mixture of secular and sacred material, this is music to die for.
